Deciding on a strategy and sticking with it. I would agree but you need to be clear that the strategy is in alignment with your passion in business and your natural action and communication styles. It's also helpful to have effective strategies to follow through on what you set as your priorities, goals, plans, calls to action... and other components of your daily business activities. These principals will give you ideas to be effective when working on your business; so you can be persistent, passionate and productive in your small business.

1. Passion- you just can't have a thriving business without it. Being passionate and believing in what you do creates clarity, enthusiasm and focus. It will spark ideas for new products and services, it will come through in all of your marketing pieces, and it will help you keep going when you hit the occasional rough patch. Your passion will inspire your customers, employees, subcontractors, suppliers and colleagues to connect with their passion and give you 100% when you work together.

2. Law of Attraction-what you focus on with your thoughts and feelings becomes your point of attraction and creates the outcomes you bring into your business. You can get into alignment with the law of attraction by having what you say you want, what you think about what you want, and how you feel about having what you want all be congruent with each other. This reflects in every aspect of your small business so it's important to recognize if your predominate thoughts are of lack, resistance, and struggle, or of possibility, opportunities, and forward momentum.

3. Attraction Marketing in action- This is where you combine the principals of the Law of Attraction with some traditional business tools. What you get is a shift in perspective from finding business to attracting business. You do this by getting clear on what is important to you, how you want to be of service, and what success on your terms would look like. You start with the end in mind and this big picture view will give way to inspired actions that you can follow through on to make you very effective, productive, and attractive in all of your business activities. Instead of making one sale you are connecting with a perfect customer and creating a customer for life.
Tip! The Language of Attraction- is about our choice of language with others and especially with ourselves. It doesn't matter whether the communication is verbal, written or just a thought the quality of our language will effect the quality of our results.

4. Natural Action styles- Everyone has a natural action style that gives them powerful results when they honor it. Some people are Decisive: they gather information weigh the important factors for them and then make a decision. Some are Inspirational: the can see the big picture and create the steps to get there. Some are Conservative they look at what they are currently doing and look for ways to improve it or to build on existing structures that others have created. Some are Selective they like to take time to do research, try things a little at a time and then move forward. Within these four main action styles how people gather and process information will differ. All of the natural action styles have preferences about list making or brain storming, visual cues or verbal cues... You can explore this a bit more on your own by writing down your answers to these questions. In what forms do you like to take action? Do you like to make lists, brainstorm, free associate... do you read or listen for inspiration. If you are not sure of this; reverse the question in what forms do you dislike taking action? This will get you started and your natural action style will become clearer.
Tip! I understand and accept that Law of Attraction is a process. It is a process of gradually reducing the negative vibrational patterns I have towards some areas in my life and replacing them with positive thoughts.

5. The Language of Attraction- is about our choice of language with others and especially with ourselves. It doesn't matter whether the communication is verbal, written or just a thought the quality of our language will effect the quality of our results. When you begin to put this strategy into action you will want to start with your choice of language. Being conscious of the language you choose means you stop stuff from falling out of your mouth or your thoughts without realizing what you are saying. An example: I need to find more people to buy our products we're not doing well. Using the language of attraction you might say, I am thrilled with the customers we have, revenue is coming in and I want inspired actions to help me increase the number of perfect clients I have and increase the volume of profits flowing in. Its subtle I know. But the main difference is that you are acknowledging and appreciating the customers you have that are flowing money into your business, you are standing in the space of appreciating what is working in your business and this will allow you to attract more ideas, tools, resources, referral sources to bring in even more revenue. It's like compounding interest, the more you appreciate what is the more your business grows. And the sooner you start the sooner you feel things flowing.
Tip! Choosing Free Will- Free will is about choosing to open your connection to Source or to pinch yourself off and be resistant to the brilliance of who you are. The simplest answer to “How” you accomplish success is to say “Yes” to Source and allow the Law of Attraction to work with great abandon.

6. The Myth of Procrastination- Procrastination is not something to blow through or move past, it is a message from your self to pay closer attention to what you are doing. There are two reasons procrastination shows up. 1. Because you are not in alignment with what you are trying to do. Or 2. You are not honoring your natural action style with the actions you are taking. An example for #1: You are trying to create a website by yourself, because you think it will save you some money but you can't ever seem to get it accomplished. One key component in your natural action style is focus on your strengths and move forward once you have made a decision. In this case getting clear on what business you are in will help you move forward immediately. Hire a web master to do what they do best and get your website up attracting more clients for what you do best. Honoring your natural action style will show you trying to do both is false economy and not attracting the success you want.
Tip! The Law of Attraction teaches us that everything vibrates and every vibration affects all other vibrations. I like the way Abraham-Hicks put it: 'Everything vibrates and is communicating, reacting, responding and integrating with other vibrating things.

An example of #2: You are working on writing a book, you are passionate about the subject, and very interested in getting the project finished and out to your audience to build sales and credibility but you just can't seem to make any progress. One key component in your natural action style is to listen for inspiration and to create word pictures with the language you use. In this case recording your thoughts on tape and transcribing them or starting with an audio version of the material you want to create will honor your natural action style and allow you to move forward. Once the resistance is gone you can build on your momentum.

7. Fun- Is your business giving you the profits and fulfillment you envisioned it would? Do you wake up in the morning excited with the prospect of what the day will bring and the passion you have for your business? When you think about your customers and clients does a big smile spread across your whole being? It is time to put fun back into your life and your business. Isn't that one of the reasons you started your own business in the first place? Using the principals above will help, investing in yourself and your vision of success will make it happen.

~~~ Resource Box
©BZ Riger-Hull. Being self -employed, I'm at many business mixers and networking events. Whether for professional reasons or casual conversation, the question "What do you do?" comes up. The answer is usually your 30-60 second elevator speech... Hi, My name is .... I work for/my company is ..... I help people.......Sometimes the response goes on for more than 60 seconds.
Last week I was at a mixer and was called over by a colleague to meet a gentleman to whom she was speaking. With my name tag on, I walked over and extended my hand. Next - the question " So what do you do?" I have several short responses that invite questions if people want to know more. He didn't. My turn came up to ask him the same question. After learning about his profession (financial services) in about 6O seconds, I asked him a question to learn more about who he was. His answer was to tell me about how good he was at his job, how happy his clients were with his services and so on for 10 -15 minutes. I stopped hearing him after the first few minutes as I looked for a polite way to excuse myself. Know what I mean? During the entire conversation he never asked me anything that showed any curiosity in knowing who I am. It felt more like listening to an advertisement instead of having a conversation. It was all about HIM! Then he gave me his card, asked for referrals and said he'd get in touch with me. It was a total turnoff. Sound familiar?
Here's my 64 cents. People like to be talked to not talked at. If your focus in networking is only to get clients to build YOUR business, that's what people will pick up. That may work with some people. Remember, the first thing people buy is you not your product or service.
Have you met people who have shown a genuine interest in you/your needs? What was that like? Did you feel a connection or want to affiliate with them? Would they have been people you would want as friends? And if that person had a service or product something you needed, would you want to buy from them? If your intent is to forge strategic alliances and build relationships with people, take a look at the way you're coming across and the agenda (expectations, desired results) you bring in meeting people in any situation. Creating connections naturally opens the door to referrals. If you knew of someone great who would be of help to folks in your life, would you keep that person a secret? This is Attraction not a technique to be more effective in business.
Tip! An Enjoyable Personality- If your leadership flows with the Law of Attraction this will be very easy for you. Because your focus will be on possibility not problems, abundance not lack, intention not expectations.
Three Attraction Tips:
-- Be real - be yourself with people. * If you don't know who you are or how to be real, contact me. I'll help you figure that out!
-- Be genuinely curious in learning about people in casual or business situations. Listen for how many times you make "I" statements to draw the focus consistently back to you. Good conversations have a back and forth flow vs. being a captive audience.
-- Really listen by staying present to what's being said. Practice active listening. Asking question that refer to people's comments invites conversation.
Three Networking Tips:
1. Only offer your card when someone asks for it. Ask for their card if you want it.
2. If you want to give your card but haven't been asked - you can say " May I give you my card?"
3. When given a card, hold it in both hands and say something about the card ( I like the color, very striking) before putting it in your pocket or purse.
-- If you meet someone you'd like to know better, invite them for coffee!
Last comment.....I'm a big believer in forging relationships and building a community of support. The habit of Going beyond Expectations- Going beyond what you are paid to do, what is expected of you or what you want for yourself will be effortless because all of your actions will be inspired actions. The ideas, creativity, solutions and opportunities will just flow because the Law of Attraction is like a big photocopier; it brings you more of what you set out.
Find more articles like this at http://www.Solo-E.com, the lifestyle-inspired online learning and connection community. Or, I guess one could argue, I just didn't make the time to keep up my proactive marketing efforts.
So what happened if I lost a client or two, and suddenly needed more work? I'd have to quickly rev-up my marketing in the hopes I could generate more work in a short amount of time.
Not an ideal scenario by any stretch. But it's also pretty typical, especially for independent service professionals.
Then, several years ago, I discovered attraction marketing.
With attraction marketing you attract qualified leads TO your business so you don't have to go out chasing them.
You forget about "selling" and you focus on "serving."
And just like a magnet, you start attracting prospects and clients. They see you or hear you or read something you've written and if it resonates with a problem or need they have, they come to you.
Can you imagine what it would be like to have potential clients emailing you, calling you and visiting your web site all on their own?
Instead of you having to track them down and convince them to call, email or visit your website?
That's attraction marketing. And it's so much easier and comfortable than traditional sales and marketing.
Tip! The Language of Attraction- is about our choice of language with others and especially with ourselves. It doesn't matter whether the communication is verbal, written or just a thought the quality of our language will effect the quality of our results.
And, if you do a good job of creating a very clear and concise positioning for yourself and your business, you'll attract exactly the right clients and anyone who is not a good fit for your services will not be attracted.
Talk about saving time! You no longer have to wade through an entire list of prospects to find the ones who are a good fit. And you no longer have to rely on cold-calling or other more traditional sales methods to get work.
Tip! I find myself automatically assigning all my new desires to Law of Attraction.
You can actually focus on doing what you do best and THAT is what attracts clients to you. Yes, you do have to put a few elements in place to start generating awareness of you and your services, but again it becomes more about serving than selling.
The best part is, you can get off the revenue roller coaster and create a more steady business this way. Because you always have new prospects coming into your marketing funnel (Don't know what a marketing funnel is? Read my article at http://www.10stepmarketing.com/marketingfunnel.htm )
Attraction marketing doesn't have to replace your other methods of marketing. For example, I still network and keep up with my relationship marketing and speaking/teleseminars. But it sure is an easy way to really step up your results and practically put your marketing on auto-pilot.
Tip! The Law of Attraction teaches us that everything vibrates and every vibration affects all other vibrations. I like the way Abraham-Hicks put it: 'Everything vibrates and is communicating, reacting, responding and integrating with other vibrating things.
(C) Copyright 2006 Debbie LaChusa
Debbie LaChusa created The 10stepmarketing System to make marketing your own business as simple as answering 10 questions. Not only that, but what you choose to focus on determines what you'll attract?
This article describes the Law of Attraction and why it's so important to master this Law. By learning how to implement the Law of Attraction you'll be able to create your Ideal Income In 2006.
The 5 steps:
Step 1: Get clear on what you don't want.
It sounds strange, doesn't it to focus on what you don't want? However, that's what most of us do all the time, unconsciously. In my 30 years of empowering people to reach their goals, I have discovered that most people are focusing on what they don't want . So, for example, if they have a pile of bills, they'll focus on their pile of bills and their lack of money. What do they get ? More of what they are focusing on.
Step 2: Get clear on what you do want.
For, everything that you don't want, ask yourself, "So what do I want?" By doing that, you are sending signals to your conscious and subconscious mind to bring you more of what you do want. If money is your concern and there is a big contrast between the money you have and the money you want, put your focus on the money you want.
Step 3: Create your desire statement.
So after you begin focusing on what you do want, write a paragraph describing what you desire. If it's about money, then write out a Desire statement describing you Ideal Money Situation, as if it were happening right now. For example, " I now have an abundance of prosperity. Every month there is more coming in than going out. I am happily buying what I need and I have money left over……" and so forth.
Step 4: Clear your beliefs.
What would block you from manifesting the prosperity that you want? When I ask my clients that question, I usually get answers like , "I don't deserve it". "No one in my family makes that amount of money." "If I have that money everyone will want some of it and I'll never know if people like me or they like my money." " I don't' have what it takes to succeed at that level".
So what self-limiting beliefs do you have? What stops you from having your ideal income? What self sabotaging strategies do you use?
Step 5: Allow it to come to you.
In other words, suspend all doubt and just trust that you'll be guided into inspired action. By following your hunches and keeping your focus on what you want, you become increasingly magnetic.
A tip: Read your desire statement each day out loud and feel what it feels like to have it. Really allow your self to experience it so that you magnetize it to you.
For more information on powerful marketing tips and tools, please visit Maya's website: http://www.90daystomoreclients.com While you're there, get your Free Audio Mentoring Session by clicking the first button.
Identify Your Perfect Clients & Develop an Attraction Marketing System
Your Vision of Your Perfect Clients
Picture in your mind your 3 perfect clients. You may think of them as your A+ clients.
Your Perfect Client Prototype - Qualities & Attributes The Be - Do - Have Approach
BE: Your perfect clients attitudes, beliefs, & values Example:
DO: How your perfect clients' behave. What do they do and what do they not do. Example:
HAVE: What do your perfect clients have and what don't they have that makes them a perfect client. Example:
What Makes Your Perfect Clients Tick? "The key to creating far more satisfying and synchronistic relationships is to say what usually goes unsaid in the context of business, to share the motivations and missions that drive us and our customers (clients) to get out of bed each morning and face another day. When we know what motivates our perfect customers - what is most important to them in their lives - we will be in a much better position to assist them to achieve their goals." Attracting Perfect Customers: The Power of Strategic Synchronicity by Stacey Hall & Jan Brogniez
Interviewing questions for getting to what makes your perfect client tick:
1. Why do you get out of bed in the morning?
2. Who is the most important person to you in the world?
3. What is most important to you in the world?
4. What do you want to achieve before you leave this world?
5. What do you really love about your life?
Attraction Principle: Like attracts like. Based on this, you can lay the foundation for a great relationship by asking the same questions of yourself, since your perfect customers are generally motivated by the same, missions, issues, values and challenges as you are.
What Do Your Perfect Clients Expect You to Deliver?
What are the qualities and attributes that make your practice a perfect place for your perfect clients?
How do you know what your customers expect of you? You get to say.
How can this be? You are fulfilling your own unique purpose and mission through your business. You are the only one who can create your business in the way you do. To be most attractive to your perfect clients, it's paramount that you be completely fulfilled through your work.
Thought Experiment: Recall a time when you were serving a perfect client? What was it like? Now, recall a time when you were serving a difficult client? What was that like? What was 1 key difference? Didn't the perfect client appreciate the way you do business and the difficult one would have preferred for you to do business in some other way?
Key point: What do you want to provide and how?
I Choose for My Perfect Clients to Expect Me to….
Include: pricing, location, advertising methods, staff size, primary services, secondary services, Not what you think you should provide, or have to provide. Only what you truly want to provide. What would be most satisfying and fulfilling for you? This is key to designing your practice on purpose and filling it with your perfect clients.
Where Do You Have Room for Improvement? Question: What do you have to improve to attract more perfect clients? Answer: Only those items that your perfect client expects you to deliver.
More Challenging Question: What are you currently working to improve that your perfect clients don't expect or want you to improve? This is the most fun and enjoyable part of the process. It's an opportunity to acknowledge your strengths and to identify where you can ‘turn on the power' in order to be even more attractive to a larger This step helps keep you on track and on purpose with your overall game plan by allowing you to check to see if new ideas are aligned with and consistent with what you say your perfect customers expect from you.
Tip! The habit of Going beyond Expectations- Going beyond what you are paid to do, what is expected of you or what you want for yourself will be effortless because all of your actions will be inspired actions. The ideas, creativity, solutions and opportunities will just flow because the Law of Attraction is like a big photocopier; it brings you more of what you set out.
Exercise: 1. Look at your list, "I Choose for My Perfect Clients to Expect Me to…"
2. For each item ask yourself, "Are we providing this service or meeting this expectation completely right now?"
3. If yes, congratulations. Go on to the next item on the list. If no, then circle that one.
4. Repeat for all the items on the list. As you ask this question, check in with your perfect clients - the 3 you pictured at the start of this process. Ask them what they say. (Often, we're our own worst critic, especially if we have a ‘perfectionist streak' in us.)
5. Top of new page, write "What Do I Have to Improve to Attract More Perfect Customers?" Write the circled items here.
6. Write down the date when you will BEGIN working on that item.
What's Next?
You've just made a great start in designing your practice on purpose to be even more attractive to your perfect clients. Possible actions for moving forward:
1. Keep adding to your 4 lists.
2. Review your plan daily, even if it's for just 5 minutes.
3. Share it with your staff and invite them to nominate items to add to the list. (But you get to say what you actually add. It's your plan.)
©2005 Brad Swift of Life On Purpose Institute, Inc. This is an important exercise, as essentially it allows you to find out as much as possible about the opposition - how best they operate, what they lack and then how to capitalise on it!
Study the Competition Offline
Start by reviewing the Yellow Pages, the Thomson Local or even go online to determine what you're up against locally (and if applicable nationally). Make a list of the businesses you need to research, then systematically list the advantages and disadvantages associated with each company. Try to be as objective as possible.
Some questions you might need to ask about the opposition include:
* Where do they advertise?
* Who buys from them?
* What form of marketing seems to work best (or not) for them?
* Do they produce a newsletter you could join?
* What's their background?
* Do they try to appeal to all sections of your particular business sector, or do they have a niche market?
Study Your Competition Online
If a competitor is consistently higher in search engine rankings than you are, work out how they got there. For example use www.linkpopularity.com to see which sites link to their website, as well as your own. Relevant links can dramatically increase traffic to your web site as they provide an excellent source of consistent and targeted hits.
Review your competitor's website from top to bottom - essentially ‘get under the bonnet' and see what makes it work.
View the competition as not only a force to be overcome but an aid in your marketing efforts. You might be pleasantly surprised, or shocked, when you compare your business to what else is out there. Either way you'll learn a great deal using this method!
Tip! An Enjoyable Personality- If your leadership flows with the Law of Attraction this will be very easy for you. Because your focus will be on possibility not problems, abundance not lack, intention not expectations.
Andrew Ludlam is a client attraction expert, and Director of Maverick Marketing Solutions. However it's important that you ‘work' these opportunities in the correct way. The following techniques should make a great difference to your success rate at networking events.
In The Beginning
It's important to know exactly what you want out of a networking event, as well as why you're attending? Is it to refine your skills, build relationships, make sales or research the competition? Will you encourage people them to visit your website? Sign up for a workshop? Set up a time for a further meeting?
In fact, you may find you'll benefit most from networking when you have one intention and stick to it. That way you won't become sidetracked and instead can concentrate on the job in hand, for example, to build potential joint ventures.
Business Cards
Apart from yourself, these are second most important equipment for any networking event. However, don't just hand your business card out to all and sundry. In fact, until you know whether or not the person opposite fits a match to your needs, don't be tempted to exchange cards. No match, no card.
Also keep a pen handy, that way you can write something memorable about the person you've just met on the back of their business card before moving on i.e. what was discussed, their interests, needs etc. This can provide a great memory jog for after the event.
Never apologise for your business card. As long as it contains your correct contact details, then your business cards are performing. Remember, ‘business cards do not maketh the man… Or woman.'
First Impressions
What will make more of an impression, your job title or what you actually do? Remember that with any product (and the product here is ‘you') people want to know about the benefits not the features.
So instead of saying ‘I'm a Financial Planner', try ‘I help people take control of their finances'. Doesn't that immediately sound much more empowering and interesting?
Think about how you would introduce yourself, so that you a) tell people what you do, and b) include a perceived benefit.
Tip! I understand and accept that Law of Attraction is a process. It is a process of gradually reducing the negative vibrational patterns I have towards some areas in my life and replacing them with positive thoughts.
However the best way to make an impression is to listen. Remember it's not about you, but them - keep talking about your business and how great you are and you've lost them. However by taking a real interest in the person opposite and how your business can help them, well then you're well on the way to gaining a good contact and maybe even a client.
Tip! I find myself automatically assigning all my new desires to Law of Attraction.
So what kind of things could you ask or talk about? Here are a few questions to get your started:
* How did you become involved in this kind of business?
* How do you see this event helping you in your business
* What marketing have you found most effective in your business or industry?
* What would a typical client say about you?
* What is your number one need at the moment?
* What business trends do you see affecting you right now (or next year)?
* How do you identify potential customers?
Then see if you can leave a potential contact with something more. For example, do you have a report you could take along, a copy of an article or press release about your business? Something different, something ‘extra' that could make you stand out and differentiate you from the competition.
It's Not A Race
You don't have to meet everyone. Three to four productive discussions will yield far better results, long term, than nineteen ‘grip and grins'. Believe me if you're intent on meeting as many people as possible it tends to give away two things, a) a sense of desperation, and that b) you're clearly at the event for one reason: to find work… And quickly!
The Follow-Up
Follow-up within 48 hours of making a contact, either by email, phone or letter. It displays your level of commitment, credibility and professionalism. Yes, we're all busy people, but honestly how long does it really take to write a quick email? How often have we met people who have promised to ‘get in touch' and never do? Don't be one of these.
Tip! Law of Attraction-what you focus on with your thoughts and feelings becomes your point of attraction and creates the outcomes you bring into your business. You can get into alignment with the law of attraction by having what you say you want, what you think about what you want, and how you feel about having what you want all be congruent with each other.
Andrew Ludlam is a client attraction expert, and Director of Maverick Marketing Solutions. But claiming to be part of an industry is not what attracts customers. Customers come to you because you offer a specialty. For example, which advert are you mostly likely to respond to:
Advert 1: "Established since 1985, you can be assured of a great service."
Advert 2: "Experts for all small to medium sized businesses"
Advert 3: "We specialize in new start-ups"
The chances are you'd be more likely to call the company who placed Advert 3 Why? Because they tell you exactly what they do best. They specialize, they fill a niche!
So, if you were a start-up company you would be looking for a firm of accountants that provides this specific service to fill your immediate need.
In fact most companies, whether big or small, direct their marketing to select niche audiences. Even the country's largest manufacturers target specific market segments to maximize the effectiveness of their programs and often market different niches for each product group.
Niche marketing can be extremely cost-effective. By targeting a specific niche, your marketing budget can go a lot further. As opposed to mass (general marketing), your marketing efforts will be high impact and targeted: people who have a specific interest or need can usually be found in the same places.
Andrew Ludlam is a client attraction expert, and Director of Maverick Marketing Solutions. Have a visual point at your booth -- like a power point show or a television with a video playing. Put together a workshop video, even if it isn't professional quality. People will usually not look at it more than three minutes before they feel conspicuous and will approach you.
2. Have a picture album with success stories and pictures. Especially great for independent professionals selling a intangible product. Pictures of workshop attendees having fun and doing various projects or eating together or a Christmas party in your office with your clients is very connecting and attractive. Please like to belong to things that they perceive as "successful."
3. Have a drawing for something that is valuable and attractive to them. Don't give away something laying around your office or something that has your ego attached, this very unattractive.
4. Candy bowl. One they have to reach deep. Don't fill it up, let it look like there isn't much left -- that is even more attractive. They want to reach in before it's all gone. They will take less too (chuckle)>
5. Hire a model with brains and a marketing background to assist you. Someone "very attractive."
6. Do what they do in grocery stores, demonstrate how to use your product. Wear a mike and have a small speaker attached. Buy the headset mike like professional singers use. The connection to that alone will attract (second chuckle).
7. Wear clothes with your logo. Name tags are great for participants but displaying your logo or name is important for building your brand. If you can't afford to have them done, create your own. There are transfer materials made for your ink jet printers (see your office supply store), find some nice shirts/blouses, and go create.
Tip! The Law of Attraction teaches us that everything vibrates and every vibration affects all other vibrations. I like the way Abraham-Hicks put it: 'Everything vibrates and is communicating, reacting, responding and integrating with other vibrating things.
8. Don't just stand behind the booth, go in front of the booth and mix and mingle.
9. Stand up behind the booth with a smile. If you get tired go sit somewhere else and have someone there that has an attractive approachable energy. Rule of thumb is to rotate the energy every 30 to 60 minutes.
10. Display your web site name big and bold in the background. Make the name a different color than the "www" and the ".com".
Here's a bonus for you. How about going in with another one-person business and sharing the costs. One that I like to use, is to work with someone like does chair-massages. It is a big attractor to people.
Oops, let me slip in another tip -- let's call it a super bonus -- for getting this far in your the reading and in your mindset. If you are a shy person, a dead way to sell at a trade show, hire a trade show presenter.
Tip! The Language of Attraction- is about our choice of language with others and especially with ourselves. It doesn't matter whether the communication is verbal, written or just a thought the quality of our language will effect the quality of our results.
A trade show presenter is experienced at attracting people to your booth. Their fee may seem expensive, and I said I was going to keep these tips in the inexpensive realm, yet then if your ROI gains from it, it will pay for itself. And these experts on presenting at trade shows will pull in the people all the time. Find someone training for this type of work and you might even be able to barter.
Catherine Franz, a Certified Professional Marketing & Writing Coach, specializes in product development, Internet writing and marketing, nonfiction, training. However it's important that you ‘work' these opportunities in the correct way. The following techniques should make a great difference to your success rate at networking events.
In The Beginning
It's important to know exactly what you want out of a networking event, as well as why you're attending? Is it to refine your skills, build relationships, make sales or research the competition? Will you encourage people them to visit your website? Sign up for a workshop? Set up a time for a further meeting?
In fact, you may find you'll benefit most from networking when you have one intention and stick to it. That way you won't become sidetracked and instead can concentrate on the job in hand, for example, to build potential joint ventures.
Business Cards
Apart from yourself, these are second most important equipment for any networking event. However, don't just hand your business card out to all and sundry. In fact, until you know whether or not the person opposite fits a match to your needs, don't be tempted to exchange cards. No match, no card.
Also keep a pen handy, that way you can write something memorable about the person you've just met on the back of their business card before moving on i.e. what was discussed, their interests, needs etc. This can provide a great memory jog for after the event.
Never apologise for your business card. As long as it contains your correct contact details, then your business cards are performing. Remember, ‘business cards do not maketh the man… Or woman.'
First Impressions
What will make more of an impression, your job title or what you actually do? Remember that with any product (and the product here is ‘you') people want to know about the benefits not the features.
Tip! An Enjoyable Personality- If your leadership flows with the Law of Attraction this will be very easy for you. Because your focus will be on possibility not problems, abundance not lack, intention not expectations.
So instead of saying ‘I'm a Financial Planner', try ‘I help people take control of their finances'. Doesn't that immediately sound much more empowering and interesting?
Think about how you would introduce yourself, so that you a) tell people what you do, and b) include a perceived benefit.
However the best way to make an impression is to listen. Remember it's not about you, but them - keep talking about your business and how great you are and you've lost them. However by taking a real interest in the person opposite and how your business can help them, well then you're well on the way to gaining a good contact and maybe even a client.
So what kind of things could you ask or talk about? Here are a few questions to get your started:
* How did you become involved in this kind of business?
Tip! I understand and accept that Law of Attraction is a process. It is a process of gradually reducing the negative vibrational patterns I have towards some areas in my life and replacing them with positive thoughts.
* How do you see this event helping you in your business
* What marketing have you found most effective in your business or industry?
* What would a typical client say about you?
* What is your number one need at the moment?
* What business trends do you see affecting you right now (or next year)?
* How do you identify potential customers?
Then see if you can leave a potential contact with something more. For example, do you have a report you could take along, a copy of an article or press release about your business? Something different, something ‘extra' that could make you stand out and differentiate you from the competition.
It's Not A Race
You don't have to meet everyone. Three to four productive discussions will yield far better results, long term, than nineteen ‘grip and grins'. Believe me if you're intent on meeting as many people as possible it tends to give away two things, a) a sense of desperation, and that b) you're clearly at the event for one reason: to find work… And quickly!
Tip! The Language of Attraction- is about our choice of language with others and especially with ourselves. It doesn't matter whether the communication is verbal, written or just a thought the quality of our language will effect the quality of our results.
The Follow-Up
Follow-up within 48 hours of making a contact, either by email, phone or letter. It displays your level of commitment, credibility and professionalism. Yes, we're all busy people, but honestly how long does it really take to write a quick email? How often have we met people who have promised to ‘get in touch' and never do? Don't be one of these.
Andrew Ludlam is a client attraction expert, and Director of Maverick Marketing Solutions. This is the Law of Connectivity. We have probably all met someone whom we instantly did not like and did not want to be around. This is caused by a lack of connectivity and usually takes only a few seconds to manifest itself. The Law of Connectivity states that the more we feel connected to, part of, liked by, or attracted to someone, the more persuasive they become. When you create an instant bond or connection, people feel comfortable around you. They will feel like they have known you for a long time and that they can easily relate to you. When we feel connected with someone, we feel comfortable and understood; they can relate to us and a sense of trust ensues.
When we come in contact with someone of the opposite sex, the attractiveness concept is magnified. Attractive females can persuade men more easily than unattractive ones, and attractive males can persuade females more easily than unattractive males can. We see obvious examples of this all around us. At conventions and trade shows, large corporations fill their space with sexy and attractive females. In one study, men who saw a new car ad that included a seductive female model rated the car as faster, more appealing, more expensive looking, and better designed than did men who viewed the same ad without the model. It is not uncommon for a store manager to assign an attractive female sales associate to the young man who walks in the door. Most store managers (although they won't admit it) hire attractive salespeople to attract more customers.
Tip! I find myself automatically assigning all my new desires to Law of Attraction.
There are four main factors in connectivity: attraction, similarity, people skills, and rapport. Let's talk about attraction. However, before proceeding, it is important to note that really connecting with others requires an attitude of sincerity, a lot of practice, and a true interest in the other person. Whatever you do, don't take your relationships with people for granted.
Everyone persuades for a living. There's no way around it. Whether you're a sales professional, an entrepreneur, or even a stay at home parent, if you are unable to convince others to your way of thinking, you will be constantly left behind. Get your free reports at Success Advantage to make sure that you are not left watching others pass you on the road to success. Donald Trump said it best, "Study the art of persuasion. Practice it. Develop an understanding of its profound value across all aspects of life."
Attraction operates by making one positive characteristic of a person affect other people's overall perception of him. Sociologists describe this as the Halo Effect. Because of this halo effect, people automatically associate traits of kindness, trust, and intelligence with people who are attractive. We naturally try to please people we like and find attractive. If your audience likes you, they will forgive you for your "wrongs" and remember your "rights." In fact, studies show that people who are physically attractive are better able to persuade others. They are also perceived as friendlier and more talented, and they usually have higher incomes. "Attractive" means more than just looking beautiful or handsome. It also encompasses having the ability to attract and draw people to you.
Tip! Law of Attraction-what you focus on with your thoughts and feelings becomes your point of attraction and creates the outcomes you bring into your business. You can get into alignment with the law of attraction by having what you say you want, what you think about what you want, and how you feel about having what you want all be congruent with each other.
The effect of attractiveness transcends all situations. For example, the judicial system, which is supposed to be based upon evidence, has documented cases where attractiveness made a dramatic difference. In one Pennsylvania study, researchers rated the attractiveness of seventy-four male defendants at the start of their criminal trials. Later, the researchers reviewed the court records for the decisions in these cases and found that the handsome men had received significantly lighter sentences. In fact, those researchers found that the attractive defendants were twice as likely to avoid jail time as unattractive defendants. In the same study, a defendant who was better looking than his victim was assessed an average fine of $5,623; but when the victim was the more attractive of the two, the average compensation was twice that much. What's more, both female and male jurors showed the same bias.
The halo effect also affects political elections. In 1974, a Canadian Federal election board found attractive candidates received more than two and a half times as many votes as unattractive candidates. When voters were surveyed about their bias, 73 percent denied, in the strongest possible terms, that they were influenced by attractiveness. Another 14 percent would only allow for the possibility.
Tip! The Law of Attraction teaches us that everything vibrates and every vibration affects all other vibrations. I like the way Abraham-Hicks put it: 'Everything vibrates and is communicating, reacting, responding and integrating with other vibrating things.
Consider these everyday examples of one's appearance influencing their circumstances: Have you ever noticed that height often seems to have some relationship to one's position? It often seems that the taller people get better jobs and have higher salaries.
Did you ever notice that there are some children who seem to be able to get away with anything? There has been some research showing that attractive children who misbehave are considered "less naughty" by adults than less attractive children. In elementary school, teachers often presume the more attractive children are even more intelligent than the less attractive children.
The attractiveness of our clothes can also evoke the Law of Connectivity. Researchers Freed, Chandler, Mouton, and Blake conducted a now-famous experiment on how easy it would be to encourage people to ignore a "Don't Walk" sign at a city intersection. When a well-dressed individual ignored the sign and walked into the street, 14 percent of the people who had been waiting for the light to change followed him across. When the same person repeated the experiment the next day, now dressed in sloppy clothes, only 4 percent of the people followed him across. A similar effect has been found in hiring situations. In one study, the good grooming of applicants in a simulated employment interview accounted for more favorable hiring decisions than did their job qualifications. This happened even though the interviewers claimed that appearance only played a minor role in their choices. I know that when I travel, how I am treated and how often I am upgraded is directly related to how I am dressed. I can persuade the airline attendant to give me better seats, a better flight, or the help I need much better and faster when I am in a suit than when I am wearing casual attire. When I have on jeans and a T-shirt, I am viewed as less attractive and, as a result, get less cooperation.
Tip! I understand and accept that Law of Attraction is a process. It is a process of gradually reducing the negative vibrational patterns I have towards some areas in my life and replacing them with positive thoughts.
Not only can we focus on our other abilities to make us appear more attractive, but we can also increase our physical attractiveness in many different ways. Attractiveness lies in the simple things that many people overlook, like being in shape and watching your weight, picking nice clothes to wear, paying attention to your accessories (i.e., jewelry, glasses, earrings, etc.), and having well-groomed hair. Keep track of hair and clothing styles. Styles can change dramatically, and if we ignore fashion, our persuasive ability may be put in jeopardy. When in doubt, look to national newscasters as conservative role models in style.
Research has shown that looks matter outside of advertising as well. In various studies, attractive men and women, when compared to those who were considered to be less attractive, were judged to be happier, smarter, friendlier, and more likable. They were also considered likely to have better jobs, be better marital partners, or to get more dates. The halo effect causes us to see such people only in a positive way, which gives them persuasive power. Because of the way we view them, we want to be like them and we hope for them to like us in return.
Conclusion
Persuasion is the missing puzzle piece that will crack the code to dramatically increase your income, improve your relationships, and help you get what you want, when you want, and win friends for life. Ask yourself how much money and income you have lost because of your inability to persuade and influence. Think about it. Sure you've seen some success, but think of the times you couldn't get it done. Has there ever been a time when you did not get your point across? Were you unable to convince someone to do something? Have you reached your full potential? Are you able to motivate yourself and others to achieve more and accomplish their goals? What about your relationships? Imagine being able to overcome objections before they happen, know what your prospect is thinking and feeling, feel more confident in your ability to persuade.
Tip! The habit of Going beyond Expectations- Going beyond what you are paid to do, what is expected of you or what you want for yourself will be effortless because all of your actions will be inspired actions. The ideas, creativity, solutions and opportunities will just flow because the Law of Attraction is like a big photocopier; it brings you more of what you set out.
About the Author:
Kurt Mortensen's trademark is Magnetic Persuasion; rather than convincing others, he teaches that you should attract them, just like a magnet attracts metal filings. He teaches that sales have changed and the consumer has become exponentially more skeptical and cynical within the last five years. Most persuaders are using only 2 or 3 persuasion techniques when there are actually 120 available!
Kurt over a hundred techniques to give you the ability to effectively work with every customer that walks in your door. Professional success, personal happiness, leadership potential, and income depend on the ability to persuade, influence, and motivate others.
